DR.VIVIAN H. PORCHE

 

Dr. Porche is Director of Anesthesia at the prestigious Proton Therapy Center (PTC), Houston - part of world-renowned M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. As Director, Dr. Porche guides the Anesthesia team to give individualized medications to each patient who requires sedation for their radiation treatments.

 

Dr. Porche is also the first African-American female in M. D. Anderson's history to earn the rank of Professor in any specialty. She has earned many awards, including the Edith Irby Jones Trailblazer Award given by the Houston Medical Forum.

 

Lynn, as her friends fondly address her, is a native Houstonian. She received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas - Austin, medical degree from the UT - Medical School - Houston, and completed her residency and fellowships in Cardiovascular & Pediatric Anesthesia from Baylor College of Medicine.

 

Lynn is married to Henry L. Porche and the proud mother of three, Henry III, Bobbi and Troy. Lynn's mother has also survived breast cancer.
