DR. GARY WHITMAN

 

Dr. Gary J. Whitman is a tenured professor of radiology and radiation oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC), where he serves as the medical director of the mobile mammography program. Dr. Whitman joined the MDACC faculty in 1996 after serving on the faculty at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital.

 

Dr. Whitman is a past chair of the MDACC Faculty Senate and he currently serves as the vice chair of the MDACC Continuing Medical Education Advisory Committee.

 

Dr. Whitman is a fellow of the American College of Radiology, the Society of Breast Imaging, the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound, and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. Dr. Whitman is a past president of the Association of University Radiologists, and he is the current program and symposia chair for the American Roentgen Ray Society. Dr. Whitman is a past editor of the RSNA Daily Bulletin and the RSNA News, published by the Radiological Society of North America.

 

Dr. Whitman is a former editor of the Society of Breast Imaging Newsletter, and he currently serves on the Society of Breast Imaging Fellowship Committee. Dr. Whitman is a former treasurer of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and he served on the America Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine board of governors. Also, he is a former recipient of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine Presidential Service Award.

 

Dr. Whitman is a former recipient of the Figley Fellowship, sponsored by the American Roentgen Ray Society and the American Journal of Roentgenology. Dr. Whitman is an associate editor of Ultrasound Quarterly and the Journal of Breast Imaging.

 

Dr. Whitman is interested in all areas of breast imaging, including mammography, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging. Dr. Whitman’s research interests include high risk screening, high risk breast lesions, digital mammography, and MRI-guided interventional procedures.;
